Vehicle Description
Up for sale is a 2004 KTM 625 SXC with a clean title and no accident history. I have personally owned and maintained this bike for 10 years and I was the 3rd owner of it. It has always been garage kept since day 1 but was ridden as a dual sport so it has occasionally seen dirt and mud use but always cleaned afterwards. This bike was known as the XR650R killer back in the day when it was released by KTM as a stripped down version of the original LC4 big bore adventure / enduro bike. The 625 SXC specifically which was only brought to the US for 2 years had an FCR flat slide carb, high flow cylinder head with larger valves, less oil capacity with dual cartridge filters, and a high flow exhaust all of which resulted in a big enduro bike that weighs only 291 lbs dry and less than 320 lbs with full tank of fuel. That coupled with the fact these bikes made a claimed 33hp to the wheel and 33lbs of torque bone stock (considered to be underrated from the factory) that makes this a VERY fast enduro that can hold its own against much more modern machines. This makes all of its more street oriented Japanese competition feel like you are riding something from 4 decades ago because in effect you are...The XR650L, DR650S, KLR650, and Yamaha XT600 (If you can find one), all are big heavy lumbering beasts with suspension and slow revving motors that are straight out of the late 80s when the bikes were designed. In the realm of big bore thumpers the XR650R and KTMs 625 SXC were known to be Kings of the desert as many were raced in Baja and Paris Dakar. If you are looking for a no holds barred dual sport that can handle just about anything you throw at it this bike is it. This one has some nice upgrades including an OEM KTM hardparts skidplate, Billet industries rear pro rack, Cycra pro bend hand guards, trail tech LED mini signals, and I installed the EK color matched X-ring chain with sunstar steel sprockets in stock gearing about 1000 miles ago. It has some Pierlli MT21's that were installed about 1500 miles ago but they are getting older (installed 2018) as the bike hasn't been used much in the past 5 years its mostly been taken out enough to keep the fluids moving and a few back road rips but no big trips. The bike just had a full oil change and has a brand new twin air air filter, upgraded PC racing stainless reusable cartridge filters for better flow and filtration. I have always ran Motorex 10W50 or amsoil 10W50 oil and its always been changed every 500 miles or every season as it sat quite a bit since 2020 when I got an Africa Twin which took its place on longer rides. The valves were checked and adjusted at 5000 miles. I have the original KTM binder with everything the bike came with from the factory including tool kit, and all promo brochures and even the KTM pen!!! This bike will be a future collectible with the low numbers brought into the country and its racing pedigree along with its classic early 2000's KTM styling. Don't miss out on one of the best kept secrets of the dual sport world today!
